Satya Nadella, the CEO of Microsoft speaking at Mobile World Congress (MWC) in Barcelona identified three basic traits of a good leader. According to him a true leader provides clarity, generate energy and drive success in any condition. These are some of the important attributes that any kind of leader should have but they are very often underestimated.
Leaders are the cornerstones to sustaining enthusiasm and purpose within an organization. Working as a coach, they celebrate the accomplishments of the team and open reciprocal communication channels. It is the job of the leader to foster an environment where individuals and teams thrive.
Here are some of the traits that a successful leader possesses:
1. Know Of Yourself:
The sound knowledge of your values, passions and aspirations is what makes you a good leader. Internal self-awareness enables you to manage your responses, explore your biases and harness your view of the world .
2. Radiate Positive Energy:
A pessimistic person can never be a good leader. Passion and teamwork can only be achieved when your approach is positive and people feel enthusiastic in your company .It is proved that work performance is enhanced in a positive environment. In a chaotic situation people often look up to the leader who needs to be optimistic and help ease a difficult situation.
3. Have a Proactive Behavior:
In the time of crisis, focusing on the solution is what makes you a leader rather than blaming others for the fault. It is very easy to blame others than to take the blame.
4. Delegate The Tasks:
Engaging the team to work along your side can be very challenging when you take all the work load. Save the toughest chunk of the work for yourself and distribute other tasks among your team to create harmony.
5. Do What Expect Of Others:
It is easy to demonstrate instead of dictating. Don’t expect something from others that you can’t do by yourself. Set an example and then lead.
6. Be Decisive and Confident:
There are situations when making a decisions seems impossible .Once you make a decision, stick with it because it’s not your job to make a right decision always but to make a decision in the right time .Wrong decisions can be fixed later.
7. Be Accountable:
Great leaders are accountable. When your team fails, it is you to be held responsible besides the rest because you are the leader. Being accountable is a responsibility and a step to make things right.
